Do I understand correctly that in MA if you play over the internet that it's still just a two-player game? If so then why would the game designers use the word "multi-player"? I realize "multi" implies more than one.....but just two?...that's pushing things. I hope I am wrong and you can play with several people in one game.

P.S. For the record, though I have only had the game for less than two days, I really like it a lot.

how mayn players should be implied by multi?

I've played allot of old console games where multiplayer meant two.

I think you just answered your own question....a lot of OLD console games used multi to signify just two platers. Today it's uncommon to see a two-player game referred to as a multi-player.

Does your post then confirm my suspicions about MA being only a two-player game maximum?

 Funny... Halo which is rather new, has a cooperating multiplayer function.. and there you're only two players :) and that's a rather new console game.

And yes, you can only play 1-on-1

HALO comes here from consoles (where only two gamepads presents)...
But the Massive Assault is a real MULTIplayer game. For example I have several battles with several opponents. Several is more then two. So MA is multiplayer 8)

OK, now seriously:

Massie Assault's inernet play now allows only two players fighiting against each other in one game. You can have dozens of games simultaneously.

Yes, "Multiplayer" word is often used in other games denoting face-to-face battles.

The key idea is that Massive Assault offers a bunch of original coceptual ideas, and there are A LOT of challenges to explore in the current two-plaeyr mode. (I personally and a bunch of other people have been playing Massive Assault's two-player mode for about 6 years, and we are still enjoying the game). Do the people really play more than two-player mode of chess?

Anyway, we do know that after certain amount of time maybe a year, the player will be getting tired of just two-player mode, and we are planning more than two-player internet mode. However, there are certain technical challenges in making "real" multiplayer for a turn based game, so that the game doesn't get stuck because of 1 of 6 players doesn't respond or handle those unit intersection problems, etc.

Anyway, if you feel not enough challenge in Massive Assault's multiplayer - just challenge Victor, Sky Keeper, Tiger, Drungary, Lee, Vadim.

I meant the prototype called "Iron Age" - an amateur board and then MS DOS and then Win95 wargame with simple 2D grphics but with the same Sercet Allies, Guerrillas, Indemnity, etc. concepts.

The production of Massive Assault as it is now has started about 1.5 years ago.

In fact, speaking your terms, the chess are around 2.000 or something like this years in development :-)

Is there a site where we can have a look (and maybe download) the various proto-types, earlier versions, whatever that lead to the creation of Massive Assault?
