 Post subject: Mouse Click Problem
PostPosted: Sun Dec 14, 2003 3:36 pm
Hi, I got the game Friday - looks great but I have a problem when I click on units or buttons. About 20% of the time the mouse click does not register. Anyone else have the same problem or have any ideas on how to fix it? I don't get this problem with any other game - it's a little frustrating.
Cheers, Chris

I have the same problem. But I found that the game misses fast mouse clicking - as if there is no queue - but I found that if I click slowly - move the cursor over the unit or button, press and release the mouse button slowly, and then moving the cursor - solves the problem. Quckly clicking and then quickly moving the cursor sometimes isn't registered.

Maybe this could be fixed in a patch as it seems to be a problem with the game. Takes a lot of the fun away for me. I have tried clicking more slowly and deliberatly but it still misses a lot of them.

Vadim is looking at my files to see if it is something in the PC setup

i seen such a bug couple of times - problem solved by saving game - using esc and cursor keys and then restarting.

Thanks Mrakobes, that seems to work! How on earth did you find out how to do that?

Cheers, Chris

Mrakobes, I just tried it again and this time it doesn't seem to work.
Do you have any more info on the sequence of pressing esc, cursor keys and re-loading?
Cheers, Chris

I never noticed it so much before. I would just click slowly so MA could catch mouse clicks. Now it seems like the problem is getting worse. Sometimes I have to click 3 or 4 times (and slowly) for my mouse input to register. Turning off background utilities Norton AntiVirus and Zone Alarm seamed to help a little.

btw i belive here is same problem which was discussed in other topic - about disappearance of cursor
edit your setting.ini file - find there softwarecursor=0 and change it to be softwarecursor=1 it then works better
notice to developers - ther should be such option within ingame options menu - it's inhuman to force casual users to edit ini files :D

Mouse clicking problem seems to be fixed in shortly upcoming patch. Of course that is not the only change. :)
Cursor disappearance is a worse problem - it's related to a system configuration, seems like only Win98/Me affected by that. We decide to set default value to hardware cursor only cause it moves much smoother than software and playing with it is a much greater experience - so it was a risky decision. Though convenient way to avoid that behavior doesn't implemented at the moment. :( But we have this bug in list.
