We are going to start a new feature, which automaticaly finishes all battles where one of opponents does not respond for 14 days. This person will count as looser and the opponent as winner with proper amount of score for win and lose.

Sounds great to me!

Does this apply to existing games that are stale?

Oh, yes! :-) So, I would like to recommend everybody who has stalled game - make your turn while it is not too late yet.

Sounds good to me! When do you start?

Would it be possible for the winner to have the option to claim the game rather than it being automatic?

I have at least two games where I know my opponent will eventually play. An option to continue would be appreciated.

It supposed to start in a day or two. And it will not have such options 'cause it needs modifications in client software (in terms of client-server model). Modifications you request needs a new patch to be released and so on. So for beginning we will restrict ourselft to unconditional finishing of stalled games.

So what if some jerk realise they wont win, and just to be a complete pain in the ass they play 1 turn every 14 days? They could still drag out the game for months, maybe a year.

2 Divvy - at least this will solve the most important problem - stalled games with people who decided to stop playing completely. But if SUCH jerk really appears...this can be solved by petition to devs is suppose, asking to terminate this specific game.
But i am sure such occurensies will be very unusual and rare.

Has this been implemented yet? My 2 stale games (29 and 24 days) are still happily cluttering up my list. :)

btw what makes me wonder about this "dropoff" question...i've been experiencing a large number of such "stalled" games (some are more than month old atm) but only a few of those "droppoff" peoples left from the game where they were _really_ losing.
In most cases they just stop playing without any obvious reason sometimes after just a pair of turns were done...for example there is player Fangfingers...started a game on New Paradize made like 5 turns (nothing decided yet) then dropped off and not answered for 30 days..odd...
